May 6, 2008

Dear Financial Service Provider:

The Sixteenth Annual Conference and Vendors Show, sponsored by the Financial Service Centers of New York, Inc., was held on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. The day was devoted to a General Membership meeting, vendor exhibits, seminars, featured speakers and an awards luncheon.

The highlights of the Show were as follows:                       (Click for detailed program)

  • Superintendent Richard H. Nieman, New York State Banking Department, was invited to speak along with several members from the Legislature;

  • A General Membership meeting with nominations and reports  providing an update on industry and association matters, i.e. bank discontinuance, General Counsel update, Albany update and deposit program;

  • The presentation of awards to the winners of the FSCNY/MoneyGram Scholarship Program;

  • More than forty (40) vendors showcased their latest products and services;

  • A Compliance Seminar specifically geared to managers and employees, which included presentations by Scott McClain, Esq. and other experts in the field. This seminar addressed the intricacies of complying with the USA PATRIOT ACT. Remember, the New York State Banking Department has been stressing the need for suitable compliance programs and independent examinations;

  • There was also a second seminar which addressed the subject of micro loans;

  • The opportunity to meet and socialize with your peers at a cocktail reception in the Vendor display area.

Sincerely,

MATTHEW BARDACH
